The Intellisonde™ was developed to provide visibility of water quality after the water treatment plant and before the tap.
Drinking water often travels many miles through the distribution network before it reaches a customer's tap, so there are opportunities for water quality to be adversely affected. Chlorination levels are therefore generally high in order to maintain high levels of water quality. However, the Intellisonde™ provides access to water quality data for up to 12 parameters so that water treatment can be optimised.
Available water quality parameters include Free Chlorine, Total Chlorine, Mono-chloramine, Dissolved Oxygen, Conductivity, pH, ORP/Redox, Flow, Pressure, Temperature, Turbidity and Colour.
Located at key points within the clean water distribution network, Intellisondes™ enable water providers to detect potential problems before they reach the consumer, so that repairs and remedial efforts are more timely and better positioned.
In addition to the long term deployment version of the Intellisonde™, Intellitect Water has also developed a model for short applications – the Intellisonde™ SA, which can be easily fitted to a consumer water meter or boundary box, replacing the need for spot testing a customer's tap. The Intellisonde™ SA provides a continuous record of water quality over, say, two weeks and therefore provides far superior information on tap water quality.
